Unit 101, a 1 bedroom 1 1/2 bath West Maui vacation rental corner condo will make your Maui vacation just like being at home. From your private vacation rental lanai, you can watch the beautiful sunsets or relax to the sound of the ocean's waves. You are steps from our sandy beach! 101 is the only condo at Makani Sands with a window in the kitchen & in the master bathroom! A beautiful whale is painted on the tile in the walk-in shower of the master bath. The other is a 1/2 bathroom off the living room. The Maui vacation condo rental bedroom has a king sized bed with a TV. The living room has a sofa bed and is furnished with a 2nd TV, VCR/DVD & a CD player for your enjoyment. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, stove, microwave and plenty of storage space!   The unit needs a a lot of work. There is so much stuff in the closets that we had nowhere to put our suitcases or things. My husband opened a drawer in the master bath and drawer front twisted in his hand. Front door knob does not lock. The chair in the dining room had a screw sticking up into the seat. The light in the dining room did not work. The toilets were running and screaming when we got there, which was fixed. The garbage disposal did not work, they fixed it. The dishwasher door would not stay open. The bed WAY too big for the room. The light over the bed does not work. The kitchen cabinets are in TERRIBLE shape. The shower faucet is loose. It might be leaking in the wall. Table on deck has a broken leg. It sits on a rock. The drapes are falling off the hooks in both rooms. Can't get them closed all the way. Flood light outside of unit flashes on and off all night.
  I would recommend the property but NOT this unit.

  Makani Sands #101 was overall perfect for our vacation. We very much enjoyed the beach which was basically in the backyard. The water had so much opportunity for snorkeling and we were able to see multiple Sea Turtles. The condo was well taken care of with a generous amount of amenities.   I have stayed at Makani Sands for 41 years........Our trip was fabulous and for the most part, so was Makani Sands. We were in 101 for the second week and found the unit in need of some updating, repair, and insect control. Unfortunately the kitchen was in need of some basic culinary equipment and the sofa needed cleaning - smelled horrible. We appreciated the corner unit with extra windows, 2nd bathroom, etc. but overall it needs an update. Tammy was fabulous.

  It was wonderful. 101 is perfect for us because you just walk out the patio door and the ocean is right there. The gas BBQ's are 30 feet away. The rooms are clean & comfortable, the kitchen easy to cook in, and the Makani Staff were helpful and very kind.

  We loved our stay at Makani Sands. Everything from check in to check out was a cinch. The house is well stocked with all the usual kitchen/bath/sleep necessities as well as beach chairs, towels and snorkels for your adventures. The reef out front of the unit is fun to snorkel around. Go out first thing in the AM when the tide is low so you can venture out even further. Chances are you’ll spot a turtle or two! It’s far enough away from the mega condos to feel a little slower and it’s close enough to walk to the stores, restaurants and food truck roundup. Tammy was very nice and helpful. The corner unit offered two additional windows that the center units wouldn’t have. Even though it was hot, that cross breeze was helpful when turning in for the night. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again when in Maui.

  If you’re planning a vacation on Maui you might want to choose a different spot than #101 @ Makani Sands. The pictures on the website are a bit misleading as to the actual size and condition. It is also on the end of the building next to the public access to their beach with a constant stream of people day and night without much consideration with noise. They have motion sensor lights that are located directly above the bedroom windows and go on at all hours of the night making sleeping difficult at best. The management seem to know this and just shrug their shoulders saying “It’s a vacation rental..What do you expect?”...
  They also had a major month long construction project scheduled while we were there without disclosing this to us at the time of booking. We were forced to find other accommodations for the remainder of our trip. Location is wonderful however being merely steps to the ocean. My advice... choose another unit somewhere in the middle of the building. Won’t be booking with them again. Property was well maintained and clean and the onsite management was friendly and at times sympathetic..

  We were a last minute booking, Marie took care of us instantly. The property is nice and quiet just what you want when you travel to paradise for some down time. The surf was high the 10 days we were here so the beach was non existent, but that didn't stop anyone from enjoying the water activities. This property is very close to some of the best beaches on Maui as well - pack your cooler and enjoy!

  We are serious... We will never stay anywhere else on Maui. The condos are a bit larger than most, and very comfy & well decorated. And my wife needs a soft bed, and some of the condos have that. The location is perfect, as it is truly ‘ocean front’, and not now in Lahaina, yet the buzz of town is only 5 miles when you need tour fix.
  Lastly, it’s the two running the place, Marie & Loren. They found us more space when my husband had a medical emergency, like old friends would. The6 are people who truly care.

  This is a beautiful location, the room is well equipped. The picture of the beach isn't correct for the whole year. When we were there the beach was gone & the last step on the stairs was thigh high & very difficult to get up to when trying to get back up them. Because there was no beach & alot of wave action going into the ocean for swimming wasn't an option. After talking to the office she said sometimes the beach just goes away & it does come back but no predicting when. If there was a reliable beach & safe access to it I would rent this unit again. If you are a swimming pool person this perfect. The pool is beautiful with morning sun. Also if you plan on using the pullout in the living room there is not a curtain to cover the windows, just a sheer that kinda covers the sliding doors but not the louvered window. Being ground floor it's kinda creepy.

  We absolutely loved our stay here. We stayed in a one bedroom condo on the first floor and I loved that we could walk straight out to the ocean. The view was impeccable and we even saw a few sea turtles right outside. Although there was no air conditioner, the trade winds and ceiling fans kept us pretty cool. The condo was loaded with all of the amenities of home as well. The best part is that everything is within walking distance. There is a local farmers market with tons of fresh fruit that is about a 10 minute walk. There are nice restaurants and shopping within walking distance as well. Check in and check out was a breeze. Our plane arrived late so I notified the office and they made sure we got in that night and we just checked in the next morning. We stayed 10 days and enjoyed every second of it. I will be staying here again!

  Unit 101 was fantastic! It was clean and spacious and had direct access to the ocean from the lanai. We loved laying on the lanai at night listening to the water and looking at the stars. It is an easy drive to Kaanapali Beach and a variety of attractions. It was a perfect getaway!

  We booked at Makani Sands based on the recommendation of a family friend, and were not disappointed. Having a condo right on the beach is the way to go in Maui! You aren't competing with hundreds of hotel guests for beach space or spot by the pool. Having a unit on the ground floor was also very convenient as we didn't have to walk around the building to get to the beach (not a far walk but for anyone with slight mobility issues it's a bit more convenient). Our condo was clean and stocked with all the necessities you'd normally get in a hotel, and kitchen basics. We would definitely stay again!
