Welcome to Makani Sands Unit #206. This beautiful one-bedroom condominium surrounds you with traditional Hawaiian feel and décor in your own beachfront home by the sea! To make your vacation in Paradise effortless, there is a High Definition TV, DVD, CD player, and everything you might need for your vacation get-away! There is a brand new kitchen with all the amenities, conventional appliances and a microwave oven as well. Our beachside BBQ is a great place to meet other vacationers while grilling your fresh island fish. Dine on your private lanai while enjoying the spectacular sunsets over Molokai and Lanai, our neighboring islands!.. There is a king bed and a 2nd TV in the bedroom. There is a sofa bed in the living room for an extra guest! Newly remodeled bathroom with walk-in shower.   Makani Sands has never disappointed in all the years we have stayed at the property! The description of the unit was accurate and everything we needed we there for us. Tammy the property manager was so helpful and on top of every aspect of our stay. We come in February to see the whales and we like to do that with Captain Steve's Whale Watches (they lost their boats in the fire but you can still book through them and go out on smaller boats to get a great experience). You can watch the whales right from your lanai - just bring some good binoculars! There is so much to see and do on Maui and Makani Sands is 10/10 the best place to make your home base for a week or two!!

  It had been 35 years since we’d been to Maui so we weren’t sure where to stay and we had a budget. A friend stays nearby, that’s how we came upon this location. As with most places along this stretch it is an older condo but it is kept up nice. Great location, we never rented a car, but would next time to do more, but we were able to get our food local. Only drawback was a very firm bed, when this was mentioned we were told it was brand new so it may soften up with use.

It rained most of the time we were in Maui but we were able to enjoy the waves and rain from inside our cozy condo. We are glad we had a rental car so we could venture out to less rainy areas or to indoor activities. We would definitely stay at Makani Sands #206 again.

  When we booked the stay at Makani Sands we weren’t able to stay in the same room for our entire trip. We were moved to this room for the for last days of our stay. Tammy and Debbie made the room change very easy. This room also had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Only issue was low water volume in the shower which we discussed with Tammy. The view and amenities compensated for the ongoing construction. We would stay again and recommend it to our friends and family.

  Unit 206 is so cool, quiet, and clean! No air conditioner here but we didn't need it on the second floor, there was plenty of cool air flowing. The view from the lanai is amazing especially for the fantastic sunsets and the pool area is spacious and clean! Overall a great stay!

Makani sands is walking distance to a number of good restaurants and a small sandy beach. We throughly enjoyed the sunset each evening with stunning views of Lanai and Molokai.   This location was recommended by a friend and we had an amazing stay in December 2021. We loved that the area was quiet and only a short drive from the bigger beaches. We could easily walk to get take out food or snacks. #206 was showing some wear and tear but it was clean and well stocked. The ocean front view was a highlight. Turtles could be seen swimming out front. 4 new barbecues, tables and lounge chairs out front made it very enjoyable to hang out "at home". Manager Tammy was amazing, she was helpful, kind and resourceful. We will be booking our next stay at Makani Sands.

It is an older unit, and had not been particularly well-maintained - cracked tiles, non-functioning ice-maker, pan with dried fat left by prior tenant, no covering on lower half of bedroom window to block morning sun, walls a bit grubby in places.

  The unit was very clean. Like the mirrored wall, the floors and the shower.
  Kitchen cabinets are sticky and difficult to open. The bed is too firm, made my ribs sore. The sofa looks dark like it could use a good cleaning. New management is obviously new and trying to get up to speed.

  Condo / location was very good, close to stores, restaurants & shopping! Enjoyed the 8 day stay immensely. Customer service first class! Only downside was the lack of A/C. Even though the weather was mild the windows were still required to be open 24/7 and the bedroom overlooks the street which gets pretty loud with the traffic in the evening and the buses and trash trucks in the early morning. Next time I visit I must have AC.

  We've been coming to Hawaii from the east coast for 40 years, most times to Maui. We've tried hotels and other condos in west Maui, but keep coming back to Makani Sands. Although there is no A/C, most of the time the trades keep the place comfortable, especially at night. #206 is one of our favorites because of the upgrades and decoration.

  Love the quiet location, walkable to the Farmer's Market, Java Jazz, Fish Market, supermarket if you must. The condo had everything that we needed to come home to after beach and hiking days. Thanks for the snorkel gear and beach chairs, the plentiful wine glasses and kitchen stuff and the brand new jigsaw puzzle that made Tropical Storm Olivia just a rainy day.

The place was exactly like the description--clean,fully stocked, bright, well maintained; the property itself is beautiful & also well-maintained. The facility was quiet at night, therefore it was wonderful to hear the waives at night, it was so soothing.

  The view was perfect! We felt so at home in our unit. I wish we didn't have to leave. What an incredible experience listening to the waves as we went to sleep.   Love the sound of the crashing waves. Lanai railing is too high. Had to sit on pillows to see over it. Condo was adequate. Had enough dishes and pots and pans. Could use a coffee grinder. I bought one to use while we were there and brought it home with me. Bathroom has been nicely updated. Like having in room washer and dryer. Too many ghost ants running around on counter, although I believe this is a common problem on Maui.
  There was no there on weekends to clean up the sand and rocks the waves deposited on the patio area which made it very hard on the feet for walking.

  This is a great place to stay ..there is a full kitchen, in unit washer and dryer and is very well as being right there on the beachouse with the big Turtles! Friends stayed in another unit and they had quite a bit more "extras", but this is the only negative I would say.

  Great location This was our third time at Makani Sands but our first stay in this unit.We love the property beach front area and viewing from the lanai.We have enjoyed each visit here and will always come back to stay here when going to Maui.
  This unit 206 is in need of new furniture, the bed is worn out and gave both my wife and I a back ache and the couch was very uncomfortable as the kitchen ants would come from everywhere when anything was left on the counter for more then five minutes.But even with these problems we still loved our stay and hopefully everything will be corrected.

  We've visited Maui many times and just love Makani Sands. Other places just don't compare: location, beach access, view, not so windy as other places on the island (just mild trade winds}, access to shops and stores, turtles, not a ten-story high-ries with people everywhere but more quiet and laid-back (our kinda' place), excellent attentive staff (available, friendly and helpful), very competitive rates (good bargin), clean units and manicured landscape. What else could one ask for?
